Tyco Flow Control has won a major project to supply valves for the construction of 10 new oil tankers on behalf of a large South American oil and gas transportation operation. Instrumental in securing the contract, which will be fulfilled in South Korea, was Tyco's ability to offer truly global support to the final customer throughout the lifetime of the vessels, as well as supplying all the necessary guarantees on product quality, delivery and type approval.
The valves perform the vital function of loading and unloading the cargo and reliability in operation was therefore paramount in their selection. Keystone Fig.1, Fig.2, K-LOK Fig.360/362 high performance butterfly valves were the models chosen. Especially noteworthy are the Fig. 360/361 units, suitable for dead end service. The design allows for higher cycling and maximum flow capacity, while the elimination of wear points between the seat and disc reduce torque and extend service life.
Close contact with customers enabled Tyco to thoroughly investigate all the service conditions that the valves will be subjected to, and make recommendations on the best technical solution. In building a relationship with an emerging shipbuilding nation, Tyco's commitment to service and breath of product range deliver value to our customer.
